Left Hand Controller Adapter In fall 1999, a left-handed prototype Vectrex controller was auctioned on eBay. This was made by an engineer at GCE to consider different ways Vectrex games could be played. It was made from standard controller parts, but wired differently for this "upside down" perspective. Because some have expressed interest in making their own, I have devised the following non-invasive method of converting the original Vectrex controller to a right handed configuration. Parts Needed: 1. A Sega Genesis extension cable trimmed to fit inside the Vectrex port 2. Parts to make a 9 pin serial-type adapter. Radio Shack item #26-264 will give you all the components: casing, wiring and the Male/ Female DB9 connectors. Then make the following connections: Inside this adapter switch pins 7 & 9; 1 & 4; 2 & 3. The other connections (5, 6 & 8) should be wired directly through. (7&9 switch the joystick wiring around, 1&4 2&3 switch buttons 1,2,3,4.) Plug your controller into this adapter and into the extension cable plugged into the Vectrex. Hold the controller with the joystick to the right. Buttons are in the same order as if still in the left handed way. You may wish to make a custom overlay for your joystick in the right handed configuration. Rob Mitchell, aka solder_guy Thanks to F.R.
